We were all used to having fairly normal bedtime routines before the COVID pandemic erupted.
My night-time schedule would include switching my phone to airplane mode, writing the next day’s to-do list (which eased my brain going into overdrive), and then turning the lamp off and drifting off.
As things begin to return to normal, I tried reintroducing my old sleep routine. However, like many of us, I’ve struggled to get a decent night’s sleep. Certainly not the recommended 7 to 8 hours!
I then read about how herbal teas have been used as natural sleep remedies for centuries, due to their ability to fight insomnia, stress, and anxiety, and decided I should try it.
During my experiment, I found some teas to be soothing to drink before bed which helped me relax and unwind, especially after staring at a computer screen all day. Others left me feeling groggy the next morning.
I understand that we are all different and to introduce anything new into a routine is trial and error, I was so overwhelmed with the success of my herbal tea experiment, I just had to share.
