Saxenda Dosing Schedule

Medically reviewed by

Saxenda is a medication with a unique dose escalation schedule to optimise its effectiveness and minimise side effects. The dosing schedule starts at 0.6mg in the first week and gradually increases to 3.0mg in the fifth week and beyond. It is crucial to follow the prescribed dosage and not change it without consulting a healthcare professional. If any adverse reactions occur, it may be necessary to lower the dose to allow the body to adjust.

Saxenda is administered through subcutaneous injections in the stomach area, upper leg, or upper arm. Unused Saxenda pens should be stored in the refrigerator, while opened pens can be stored in the refrigerator or at room temperature. Saxenda should not be frozen, and any frozen Saxenda must not be used.
