Your Eligibility For Weight Loss Medication
Find out if you qualify with your BMI and medical history
Am I Eligible
We will discuss your eligibility in more detail when we speak with you on the telephone but as a guide, you are likely to qualify for a Weight Loss Clinic programme if you meet the following criteria. Don’t worry if you aren’t sure of any, we can answer any questions you may have.
Eligibility for Weight Loss Medication
Following a consultation and blood test with our doctor, you may be eligible to be prescribed medication in the form of weight loss injections.
It is not safe to take prescription medication without first speaking to a doctor and having a blood test to rule out any underlying medical conditions that could make it unsafe to use. This is particularly true if you have Diabetes as weight loss medication and weight loss in general will impact your diabetes and diabetic medication.
Our Consultant Endocrinologists specialise in metabolic medicine so understand the hormonal processes within the body and how this kind of medication works. With a blood test, they will assess your results alongside your prior medical history and other medications.
Calculate your BMI
Body mass index (BMI) is used to determine if you have a healthy body weight. The higher your BMI, the more your health is at risk. For most adults, an ideal BMI is 18.5 to 24.9.
A BMI calculator divides your weight in kg by your height in metres squared.
There will be other things to consider but if your BMI is over 27 you may be eligible for weight loss medication.
*Disclaimer: This BMI checker is for guidance only based on BMI alone. The programme that is best for you will be a decision you will make following a consultation with the consultant at which your general health, weight loss objectives and other factors will also be a considered.
